Prompt #1:
Serteen (Teens in Service to Mankind) President:

Reflection/Application: I have gained exceptional communication and leadership skills from this position. Being able to communicate with your peers in a respectful, yet authoritative and effective way is a necessity for RAs. In addition, I am able to act as a liaison between students and faculty in higher up positions.
Dryden Food Market Lead Cashier:
Description: The lead cashier is a stepping stone between employees and management. My job was to act as a role model cashier, while simultaneously providing support to the team. I was the “go-to” for any questions or troubles.

RAs act as a resource for residents when they have an issue, making problem solving one of the upmost important skills. Also, RAs need to manage difficulties in their own life while making themselves available to other residents at the same time.
Transferring Colleges (SUNY Geneseo-Pace):
Description: SUNY Geneseo was not what I was looking for in a college. I decided to follow my dream and transfer to Pace for the second semester of my freshman year. I had to adjust to the new atmosphere and integrate myself into the school.
Reflection/Application: As an RA, it is their duty to create an open and welcoming atmosphere; a residence hall is a community. I now have a better understanding of what type of assistance students need when entering college, as a freshman or a transfer, in order to make a smooth transition. I am greatly honored to be one of the selected students who are being considered for the Spring induction of National Honor Society. As a current eleventh grade student, I believe that I have exceeded in demonstrating all four qualities of the National Honor Society. With my previous experience in the National Junior Honor Society, I have bestowed the ideals to my community as of the beginning of my middle school career. This has led me to take pride in the community around me and help create a greater society with the foundation that the National Junior Honor Society has introduced to me. The quality of Service is an ideal that I can directly relate to through personal experience, therefore creating significance in my life.…

Crash Course Reflection- The President Before reading chapter 12 of our textbook, watching the three Crash Course videos about the president’s role in our government, and researching and analyzing President Trump and his administration, I did not know what to expect. Besides knowing that the presidency is the most prestigious position in the nation simply because the president is the representative of our country, I had little other prior knowledge about the actual office of the president or the duties accompanying it. I was surprised to learn that presidents have numerous powers and responsibilities bestowed to them by the Constitution, Congress, and themselves. As a result, those who are elected into the highest office in the nation have…

Throughout high school, I have been involved in many activities. I started off with the STEM academy in my high school. In the STEM academy, we held special events that teach people, especially kids, about new experiments and science-related careers. I helped out the STEM academy by explaining people about the experiments, the purpose behind the experiments and cleaned or organized lab equipment. I was a part of the STEM academy for approximately three years in high school and I really enjoyed it because I knew I could make a difference in my community.…

After my two full years at Roscommon High School, I am very grateful to have reached the standard for National Honor Society membership. This is an opportunity that not everyone has the privilege to be a part of during their high school career. I would like to display the ways in which I have demonstrated the required assets to be a part of this organization. Not only do I possess the qualities of character, scholarship, leadership, and service, but through N.H.S., I am certain that I will grow tremendously in each of these areas. The first quality I have demonstrated throughout my life, but more specifically, my high school career, is character.…

As a first-year student, I didn’t fully understand the importance of RA’s. It wasn’t until I moved in on August 23rd that I fully understood their meaning. The move in process was hectic to begin with it, but with the help of RA’s explaining everything that needed to be done, things that we could and couldn’t have, and guiding us in the direction to making new friends. I can honestly say I couldn’t have done it without them. This is one of the reasons why I would like to pursue being an RA.…

To see residents in a nursing home enjoying life was quite eye opening. I have to admit I believed the stereotypes that a nursing home was institutional, almost hospital like. However, observing the quality of life the residents were displaying squashed my perceptions of nursing homes. The residents were full of life and very willing to speak with me and reflect on their life changes. Before this experience, I felt a nursing home was a place where the elderly did not have a voice, could not make their own decisions, lost their identity and went to die.…

The National Honors Society defines what it means to serve the student body as well as the community. As a student athlete in the Sutton school system leadership, service, character and scholarship have impacted my very way of life. Having a persistent attitude is what makes a student shine and as a prospective candidate for NHS I will incorporate this quality into each of the four pillars improving the society as a whole. Three years ago I began the NHS application process though I had little experience in volunteering for the community and lacked the opportunity to develop myself as a leader this changed as my high school career went on. Through athletics and long hours of volunteering with the town's technology department has provided me with numerous opportunities as high school went on.…

Despite tepid enthusiasm from my friends, I was going to do it; I was going to start a high school club. With a free hand, I grasped a clipboard with at least a half dozen signatures while I cut gooey slices of fresh chocolate cake with the other. Teachers alone are not responsible for changing those acquired individual attributes without the support and influence of their family members and their own willingness to learn. As I believe that education does not just takes place only in schools but also takes place outside the school environment such as their homes and outdoors. The social and cultural practices of the family play a significant role in his or her academic success and degree attainment. Teachers can help you learning, but cannot ensure that each child can acquire knowledge in the same way irrespective of their backgrounds. Curriculum…
