"Reflective practice is a way of studying your own experiences to improve the way you work. It is very useful for health professionals who want to carry on learning throughout their lives." (Bright Knowledge, 2003, para.1). Reflective practice is consciously reflecting on your day or an event, and using these thoughts to improve different areas of your life. Reflecting can improve areas in your life by: noting what you did, if it was or was not successful, and what you can do to improve. This allows you to constantly be able to improve your practice. Reflective practice can also be used in your everyday life. It is a great way to recall past experiences, strengthen your mental capacity, improve your well being, and help determine areas that need improvement. Reflective practice does not need a structure, but there are models to help guide you. Some of the models of reflection are: Gibbs Reflective Cycle (1988), Johns Model for Structured Reflection(2000), and Kolbs 's Learning Cycle (1984). Gibbs Reflective Cycle model was referred to as, "probably the most cited model by health care professionals," (Dandrea, 2009). It is clear to understand and an efficient way for debriefing. The process includes a description, feelings, evaluation, analysis, conclusions and your action plan. Each model has benefits to consider but you should use reflective practice in a way that works best for you. This way it will ensure that you are getting the most out of your reflection.…
