"Reflective practice is a way of studying your own experiences to improve the way you work. It is very useful for health professionals who want to carry on learning throughout their lives." (Bright Knowledge, 2003, para.1). Reflective practice is consciously reflecting on your day or an event, and using these thoughts to improve different areas of your life. Reflecting can improve areas in your life by: noting what you did, if it was or was not successful, and what you can do to improve. This allows you to constantly be able to improve your practice. Working in a health care profession is complicated and no matter what role you have, it is very important. Reflection will help you constantly update, improve, and grow as a professional in this field. Personal reflection gives you the opportunity to view your role in a objective view. This allows you to see from a different perspective on things that may need improvement, whether it is something you can do on your own, or as part of a health care team. I will use mediation to help myself to become more self aware, as well as keeping a journal to reflect. I will use my past experiences to help determine my future plans. Reflecting will allow me to easily recall if what I have previously done, worked or not, and why. I could incorporate reflective conversations with my clients when possible. I could find out how they feel about certain events, what they think of the programs they are attending, and any suggestions. This will allow for a open, and more trusting relationship. It will also ensure that the clients are engaged in what you are doing and trying to accomplish. Ultimately, the main goal of any health care professional should be to provide the best care possible for their client. Though, reflective practice has its considerations in health care, you must consider the many benefits that it has to offer. It allows professionals to be constantly learning and engaging in their work. I believe if everyone was educated on reflective practice and put in the time required to reflect, we would see great results in the health care
