We wanted to connect the communities of plymouth. “Artists conceive and make art, but all of us collaborate in creating its cultural role” (Hobbs 1984, p. 87) we all had this ethos in mind when creating work for the gallery and encouraging others to submit work to us. We wanted our main collaboration to not just be with each other but to really draw people into the project because to some extend the viewer and artist relationship is always a collaboration. Our theme of home only emphasise this point that it was so personal to us all. “works in the center of a network of cooperating people, all of whose work is essential to the final outcome” (Becker, 1982, p.25) that it’s hard not to feel strongly associated or disassociated depending on our own personal backgrounds. We all approached this theme so differently, and draw together a truly unique outcome, that can only exist because we all collaborated. This gallery can never be recreated by someone else without having each of our histories. “In order to progress, people have to work together... identification in their relationships whose initial diversity was precisely what made their collaboration fruitful and necessary” (Levi-Strauss, 1958, p.420) Through this project we really learnt a lot about what home meant to each of us how we work create and the unique styles we all create work in. In all I feel it is a learning curve, and in life we won’t always get to work with people who are pleasant, or easy to work with. Some people don’t always have the best intentions for a project at heart, but that is something we all have to deal with and
