Inquiry-Based Learning Reflection

(a) A discussion of how your relationship with children has grown and changed as a result of taking this course. This course has improved my relationship with children because I am now able to step outside of my adult ego and have greater patience with children. This class has added value to how children learn. I have also found a new creative approach to the dialogue surrounding experiences children have had. I have also learned that teacher and families can instill positive attributes into a child making them aware of injustices against them. I have been able to build relationships with early childhood educators, and administration around my city, from volunteering and being involved in elementary, middle, high school, school board meetings. Over the course of this semester, I have found that like the politicians in my city young children can be agents of change in their community and even the globe. We as educators can raise kids with empathy regarding their surroundings, to eventually become adults who improve conditions in their community. incorporating children s' stories into the curriculum has actually made me a better student.
