Reflection On Team Work

Reflection is a critical attribute of public health professionals who continuously update their competencies in the changing healthcare system1. It is defined as “intentional and skilled activity in which a person analyses and describes his or her thoughts, actions, feelings, and behaviors and makes judgments about their effectiveness2. Commonly used reflective methods are writing reflective journals and brainstorming3,4. The literature identified three fundamental stages in the reflective practice. First stage is caused by uncomfortable emotions and thoughts. Next stage consists of critical analysis of situation and the final stage includes development of new perspectives5,6.

In this reflective report, I have been sharing my thoughts and opinions about my group project during the semester.

I also experienced certain pitfalls during my group working experience. I remember one incident when I used a resolution strategy to overcome the conflict situation occurred among our group. It was happened when we visited our mentor once and she was not there. Later, we came to know that one of our group member had forgotten the date and misinterpreted the schedule. Since we have travelled from very far to reach the destination, I got disappointed and upset. The literature suggest outcomes or actions caused by exposing sudden emotions could be detrimental9. So I realized it was happened unintentionally and the particular member was depressed about his behavior. We came up with a good strategy to resolve the conflict situation. We used that opportunity effectively to interview other project coordinators working in that area. It turned out to be a productive meeting since they gave different feedbacks which we haven’t previously identified. I was amazed by that situation and became aware of moralities. The lesson I learned from that incident is how to handle difficult situations without causing further damages to
