These words are not easily forgotten, and many parents have a difficult time remaining civil toward one another, even after the trial is over. However, mediation encourages the parties to work together and actively create an agreement. At the end of mediation, the parties typically feel less resentment toward each other than if they had gone to trial. Since these parties must continue to co-parent their children, remaining civil—or even friendly—will benefit the entire…

After finishing the English 101 course I feel like I have accomplished many of the goals that I was challenged with the beginning of the course, such as critically thinking and reading with text from the textbook “Dialogues” by Gary Goshgarian, substantively replying to my peers to understand their point of views from the text and to get a better understanding of a rhetorical argument. Thinking and reading critically were very important this whole course. Thinking and reading critically were something you would have to do in every assignment that was given. Incorporating it in every assignment has helped us greatly improve week by week and betters our understanding of each topic and the assignments main idea.…

This approach uses four steps in establishing mediation [30, 36]: (I) The causal variable (X) should correlate with the outcome variable (Y) to establish that there may be a mediation effect (path c in Figure 1); (II) The causal variable should correlate with the mediator (M) by treating the mediator as an outcome variable (path a in Figure 1); (III) The mediator should affect the outcome variable. Though, the mediator and outcome variable may be correlated because they are both affected by the causal variable. Thus, the causal variable should be controlled in determining the effect of the mediator on the outcome (path b and c’ in Figure 1), and (IV) Complete mediation is present when the effect of the predictor on the criterion decreases to zero with the inclusion of the mediator. When the effect of the predictor on the criterion decreases, but is not equal to zero, partial mediation had occurred [37].…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

If the conflict is managed destructively, the situation becomes hostile as the conflict is escalated and unrelated to the original problem (Cahn & Abigail, 2014). Using aggressive and avoidant messages during times of conflict also contributes to relational uncertainty (Braithwaite & Schrodt, 2015). Productive conflict is based on the staying focused on the issue at hand and working to resolve the conflict in a way that makes both parties satisfied (Cahn & Abigail, 2014). Individuals can manage conflict productively through the use of constructive communication (Braithwaite & Schrodt, 2015). Constructive communication may include using I-statements that state how the individual personally feels as opposed to blaming their partner (Cahn & Abigail, 2014), highly person-centered messages that explore and elaborate upon those feelings (positivity, assurances, and openness), and focusing on resolving the problem (Braithwaite & Schrodt,…
