Reflective Practice Essay

Reflective practice is essential tool for mediator. Mediators should follow the reflective practice core concepts, such as reflecting on our interventions, before, during, and after implementing action. The mediators also need to formulate and reformulate theories about a case as we mediate, acknowledging and learning from mistakes are part of our success in mediation. Understanding our own values and biases, learning from experiences, and knowing that moments of frustration, uncertainty, and sheer surprise contain the seeds of the greatest learning. After the discussion about mediation and facilitation, we also had another simulation about California Prison Authority Mediation—integration of prisoners.
