Throughout the evaluation, the client was cooperative, cognizant, alert, responsive, and exhibited no visual inattention or neglect. Surprisingly, the client did not exhibit any signs of expressive aphasia, though it was stated in her medical chart. Her goals are to return to her her life functioning in everyday activities, such as feeding, and return to take care of her family and work as a nurse.

My rationale for the use of the Tinetti scale is because I can use this assessment to determine the severity of the client’s risk of falls whenever she is not surrounded by health care providers or family members. It is important for the client to have a steady base of support to maintain balance and to engage in self-care activities and functional mobility. The client has a strong desire to return to their life prior to their TIA. The results of this assessment tool could be used to develop relevant, measurable, and accurate long-term and short-term goals along with appropriate treatment plans to help the client rehabilitate and return back to an independent life.
