Reflective Learner Reflection

At the beginning I questioned the purpose of this course. As I continued reading through Unit one and completing the various activities, I began to realise this course is different from any other course I’ve done in the past. It took me a while to comprehend the unit one readings, for this reason I was encouraged to review external literature. I think it was my curiosity of what it meant to be a reflective learner and how to adapt to the practices of a reflective learner that pushed me to continue. I know if I utilized all of the information I’ve learnt in this course I would be transformed into an established self-directed learner.
I have learnt that as a reflective learner it is important to think situations throughout and plan responsibly. In relation to my experience this week I was required by my workplace to attend to work during normal working hours and conduct 103 household surveys after working hours, for the month of October. What type of aspiring reflective learner are you? Why are you behaving this way? Is this the characteristic of a developing reflective learner? I began to reflect on my previous college studies and I came to the realisation that this is why I wasn’t successful in continuing my studies. I knew I could not be a failure, I had to build up my self confidence and I pull myself together. That’s when I decided I need to plan and prioritize; this is the only way I’m going to get my work completed efficiently. I grabbed my planner and my pen and started writing my assignments in the chorological order as they would be completed. I then planned my work schedule and established which days and how much surveys I would tackle per week. This was relaxing; I know that becoming a reflective learner has many benefits to be endured. It is my priority to comprehend and apply self-reflective skills and attitudes to all areas of my life. It will significantly benefit me in the professional
