In the twenty-first century, knowledge and know-how are the keys to success, and for the 2017 Year Four students’ success has been achieved via endeavour, grit and determination.
Term one sprang to life with the girls exploring nature’s life cycle. Titled, ‘Life and Living’ our young Science and Technology investigators; experimented, discovered and examined Bee Pollinators and used their I-Pads to photograph dissected flowers and annotate their diagrams. ‘A Long Walk to Water’, was read and studied. Its cultural importance and linguistic contexts were investigated, culminating in a new appreciation of Australian History. The Junior School Swimming Carnival saw term one end with a splash.
Term two, had our future CEOs exhibit some of the most original and intellectual concepts for the annual …show more content…
The girls concluded sea exploration was not as glamorous as they thought. We also visited Birrarung Marr, learning about the Aboriginal people of the area and how they looked after the land. Literacy focused on ‘Bridge to Terabithia’. The girls enjoyed a novel that they could relate with, having characters around their own age, in settings similar to their own.
Term Four began as the academic year was coming to its conclusion, and our biggest adventure about to begin. We all hopped a bus and sung “We're Goin To Bonnie Doon”. Technically, it was Lake Eildon for our school camp. It wasn’t just the serenity we were going for. Our outdoor education experience was terrific. Completing our year with units on ‘Smooth Moves’ and ‘Beneath Our Feet’ where the focus was forces that effect movement and properties of soil and rocks.
Our journey in 2017 has been one of amazement and wonder, with incredible growth. The girls are leaving, as young ladies ready for their future
