How time flies! This writing class for summer session is approaching to the end. I cannot believe that I have taken this online English writing class for two months. If this is not a required criterion for graduation, I am sure that I would not take the writing class. All the time, I do not know why writing essays are very difficult for me; I always have a hard time writing papers. Maybe lack of ideas and inspirations to write is the main reason. However, I almost get over it. Although writing class is hard for me, I still have learned something in this summer class session. In this letter, I will discuss about the essays that I wrote for this English class, the helpfulness of the instructor’s feedback and teaching materials, and what I have …show more content…
First of all, I enjoyed writing the summary and critical response essay. As expected, the score is the highest among three major papers. Writing a critical response essay first have to understand the article you have read thoroughly, and then using the logic to analyze the way that the article whether is successful or not. Summary and critical response essay would be my strongest papers in this course. Secondly, the problem and solution essay is my weakest essay; of course, the essay is the lowest score that I get among these three major papers. I wrote about domestic violence in Malaysia. I could define and describe all of the aspect of the problems, but I did not come out with much better solutions for domestic violence. In other words, the solutions that I wrote about are already existent. I did not know how to propose the best help for people in Malaysia to take advantage of the resources that I mentioned in my essay. Actually, when I made up my mind to write about domestic violence, I know that the solution part would screw my overall score. However, I wanted to write this topic because it is a severe problem in Malaysia for years. Furthermore, I think persuasive essay is one of the most difficult essays for this writing class. I wrote about how the Disney films show racial stereotype to children. I had to look for credible sources as the …show more content…
Firstly, the instructor’s feedback could help me to know where is my problem and give some suggestions for further improvement. Instructor always give the feedback about there are many editing errors on my paper. As I am a perfectionist, I do not allow grammar mistakes happened. Therefore, I always try my best to decrease the grammar errors. However, this goal is really hard to achieve, as my native language is not English. Secondly, I found that the lecture notes is the most helpful for this class. The lecture notes is clear and easy to understand; it outlines the most important points and ideas from the textbook. It also provides a gauge for what is important in the textbook.

Throughout the writing class, I think the persuasive paper gave me the opportunity to learn how to write a persuasive writing. Writing persuasively is important in our life because there will be times when you want to persuade others to take action or to do something. In other words, you may want to change their behavior to listen your ideas or

Upon my entry into English 1010-02, my first college writing class, I expected to breeze through the course with an easy-A and minimal effort after my successful completion of AP English 11 this past year. I began the year with the utmost confidence in my writing abilities, and believed that my skills were above par. It wasn’t until I received my score on the essay evaluation for my First-Week Essay- a measly five out of twenty- that I realized that this was not the case. At first, I was astonished that my seemingly exceptional writing skills had not earned me the A that I believed I deserved. However, as time went on I came to the realization that I had not put in nearly enough time or effort into the paper to receive more than a C at most.…

When I started this course, I was unaware of the different types of writing and the massive amounts of research behind it. Prompts given to me were thought provoking and interesting, so I took a lot of interest in various types of arguments and assignments. What caught my interest in this subject is how, as a writer, one has to argue from both sides, include research data to support them, and then conclude them with a winning argument. My collection of persuasive writing demonstrates that I succeeded at the data, logic, argument, and other aspects of each paper. Now, I am able to collect, interpret, and use the data to fit my argument while guiding the essay smoothly toward the intended prompt.…
