I would first like to thank Frostburg State University for accepting me in their institution and giving me the chance to further my education after my high school scholar years. I have enjoyed my time at Frostburg State University and with hard work I have been able to make the dean’s list and be accepted in the Honors program during the first semester of my freshman year. I hope to continue to work even harder during the second semester and throughout my school career. As a small university, Frostburg has enabled me to benefit from many things, such as the small size classes. Now that I have gotten used to college and life on campus, I believe it is time to continue to push myself to work harder and to attend an institution where I could be academically challenged and can be surrounded by many people who share my profession.…

In the 19 years I have been alive, I have lived in three states, five towns, eight houses, and now, two countries. Right before I finished high school my parents decided to move to Guatemala. I welcomed the change because I had been visiting Guatemala every summer since I was 15, and my heart always seemed at peace there. The closest I perpetually felt at home was when I lived in Guatemala, though I resided there for a short time. Every day greeted me with words rolling off my tongue I previously did not know, the taste of delicious and unique foods, and a breathtaking landscape, complete with the view of an active volcano outside of my bedroom window.…

The first four years, both my parents had full time jobs and my grandma helped raise me a lot, she taught me so many manners and how to behave, she even ended up living across the street from me for 2 of those years, they were rough for my parents, new baby, just moving, having to find jobs, making friends, and getting food on the table for me. Thats where my amazing family came in, with bringing home cooked meals…

For me, living in a two parent household means more work because of my desire to receive a full scholarship. Upon my research, I noticed that many of my older peers would receive better college financial opportunities because of their life experiences.…
