Reflective Essay: Why Am I A Good Choice?

Before addressing why Pitt is a good choice for me, I would like to review why I am a good choice for Pitt. The University of Pittsburgh values their “talented, diverse and high achieving students”, their “safe and healthy campuses”, their unique balance of “fun and camaraderie with internships and other learning opportunities outside the classroom”, and their focus on “developing students into global citizens” (University of Pittsburgh webpage, ‘Prospective Students’). I am a well-rounded student who places priority upon academics, as well as a broad array of performing arts extracurricular activities, over 300 hours of community service, several job experiences and religious organizations. Therefore, if admitted to The University of Pittsburgh, I would fit right in with the ardent and accomplished student body, just as I would benefit as a person and as …show more content…
In addition, I am diligent in my participation in social activities. I am involved in many honors societies and clubs that prioritize social involvement and enthusiasm to the field it focuses on such as National Honors Society, Drama Club/ Thespian Honors Society, National Dance Honors Society and Tri M Music Honors Society. Conjointly, I have held leadership positions and acted in further volunteer settings with these groups such as Secretary for National Dance Honors Society (2014-2015), President for National Dance Honors Society (2015-2016), Social Chair for Drama Club (2014-2015) and volunteer Hawkfest (school spring festival) performer for Drama Club (2014). This shows that I’ve gone beyond the traditional classroom setting in order to participate socially and to challenge myself academically and in extracurricular activities with leadership positions.
