Reflective Essay: Who's To Blame?

Two years ago, on a Thursday afternoon, I was waitressing on our busiest days at work. I was doing fine but then suddenly, I started to feel ill. I had no idea why I felt ill, but I tried not to acknowledge it since it was rush hour. A few minutes later, I had a seizure in the dining area. I was unconscious for a while. I woke up inside the ambulance feeling confused and afraid. Paramedics were asking me questions as soon as I was conscious, but I wanted answers as much as they did. Why am I in here? What happened to me? How did this happen? Who was with me?The Paramedics asked me to calm down and answered my questions. Apparently, I had fell to the floor and had a seizure in the dining area and was helped by some customers. The customers made the call to 911 and were helping me while I was having the attack. They had put me on my side, put my hands straight down, and not allowing me to close my mouth so I didn't “swallow my tongue.” The customers told the Paramedics that they have never aided someone who had a seizure before, but they know the basics of what to do when it occurs. They were afraid since they never had hands on experience dealing with a seizure attack, but I was very grateful that they decided to help me. The Paramedics …show more content…
If the customers were selfish, they would have continued dining with their families and let my staff handle my attack. However, seizures can scare most people and most wouldn’t dare to get near someone having an attack due to not knowing what to do. Thankfully, they decided to take action and help me. It taught me that no matter what you're doing or who you're with, if there is anyone in need, you should always help them out. Treat people how you would want to be treated in any situation.
