I walked into my advanced placement United States history class believing that this class would be similar to the honors classes I took the prior year. I did not realize that the AP class I was walking into would require study habits and a work ethic that I had not quite developed at the time. I took my first quiz and received a failing grade because I was not properly prepared for it. This was the moment I understood that this was not just another class and being successful would require me to learn how to take notes, study, and work harder than I ever had in order to pass the test at the end of the year. Along the way my teacher gave us some tips and resources, but he purposely let us struggle. I became self motivated as the final test neared,
