For my entire life my dad has worked two jobs to support my mom and me, since my mom can not work and the cost of her therapies and medications is immense. For as long as I can remember I have always been willing to help my parents, whether it was my dad needing help cooking or my mom needing help walking, I have always made a point to make myself available whenever they may need help. To be honest I was not taught the essential things to becoming an adult and surviving on my own. It all started with my parents and the way I was raised. I am the baby of five kids and my mom was 39 when she became pregnant with me, so you could say I was the uh-oh baby. With me being such a late comer and all my older siblings in high school when I was born they took on a lot of the responsibility of raising me.…

This was before I entered graduate school this previous school year, throughout this time I gained inordinate skills and learned exactly how to interrelate to learners from all walks of life. During my time as a sub I was capable to work as paraprofessional in a special education classroom and gifted students. My family guidance would undeniably be a credited to my deceased father because he imparted me to be the greatest I could be and I modeled the way I perceived the world through him, it sometimes would be all about the observation and being personable. My father would make everyone smile no matter what was going on in his life, also he exhibited me the notion of a prodigious work ethic and that there’s always more worked to be done. Growing up I didn’t necessarily like school, I think it was generally because I didn’t like getting up early, and who could blame me, I was a…

Life was different growing up in South Africa, with divorced parents (from the age of 5) and my mother being the sole provider in a low-income family. Until the age of eighteen, my objective was to finish high school and to start working, because at the age of sixteen I was almost self-sufficient. The public school, which I had access to, in the late 1990’s did not offer any activities or organization involvement. My first contact with student life was when I became a student at Lone Star College-Montgomery in Texas.…
