For my entire life my dad has worked two jobs to support my mom and me, since my mom can not work and the cost of her therapies and medications is immense. For as long as I can remember I have always been willing to help my parents, whether it was my dad needing help cooking or my mom needing help walking, I have always made a point to make myself available whenever they may need help. My reliability and responsibility has transferred over to my extracurricular activities, because I have been a Chapter FFA Officer for three years, including being President this year. My accepting nature is due to seeing how some people react to my mom being in a wheelchair -- rudely and disrespectfully, which in turn hurts everyone in the family. The feelings of hurt have made me conscious of my actions at all times, making me more accepting of others, no matter their background, beliefs, or abilities. I have convinced many students who would not traditionally be in FFA to join the organization, been friends with foreign exchange students, and have learned how to help others while helping them use own unique strengths and abilities.
From an outside perspective, one would say that the impact of my mom having MS is entirely negative, but looking from my perspective, I have had many positives come from it, even despite the emotional and financial hardships that it has brought on my family. Without my mom having MS I do not think that I would have ended up on my current path of going to Pre-Veterinary School and eventually become a Veterinary
