In the paper it was emphasized that the author needs to include their own experiences into the mix as well. From the three excerpts from essays that were included this fact was shown even more so than had they just told someone. It made me think that I needed to add more from my time in the meeting at the church into the essay than I originally had. Not only that but also that I need to give justice to the people I studied by giving them a voice in my writing as well. Hopefully because of “Thickening Your Draft” I will have the ability to adequately give voice to the people involved in my
