Reflective Essay: Therapeutic High School

It’s an odd day when you find someone who has a fair amount of therapeutic knowledge, went to school to gain it, and isn’t even old enough to be a high school graduate. Today is one of those odd days. I went to a therapeutic high school for the end of my freshman year, and all of my sophomore year. I’d like to dispel a rumor about therapeutic education before I go on. Many people believe teenagers who choose this form of alternative education are “bad” kids. Gardening, hiking, and camping are just a few of my dirt loving habits, so know I will be bringing lots of detergent with me in order to keep up with my messy lifestyle. Another thing in my suitcase will most definitely be my massive collection of lipstick. Expect a curly haired, bright lipped, and curious girl to show up to classes; none of the mousy, quietness that a bookish girl is expected to be. I am bold, and along with my lipstick I’ll be packing my boldness too. I will be packing my suit as well, which has served me for four years of speech and debate tournaments, and I hope will continue to do so. All my books are coming with me as well, so I hope you have at least a little shelf space. If I leave Vonnegut at home he may get lonely, and Murakami tends to get strange ideas in his head when left to his own devices. I love people almost as much as I love the pages of a book. Almost.
