I am writing about this just because I feel affected by this and I am trying to just give some knowledge that this type of racism does exist. Writing this paper has definitely brought me out of my comfort zone because this is the first time I have ever written a paper about racism where I really talked about how I truthfully felt. I know when the topic of white privilege is brought up especially in classes I never speak up because in some classes that is definitely a trigger point for me. When I people discuss white privilege it just frustrates me and I never knew I had this trigger point until I attended college. In my personal experiences with some classes, especially the ones I have attended at temple the focus of racism is on biased towards certain races. I grew up with my father in the police department and my mother who is a lesbian so the issue of race and discrimination has always been an uncomfortable topic for me, which is why I try to avoid the issue. I truly feel that everyone is dealt different struggles in life and it is up to you to decide how you handle them. If you only base your struggles and where you are at in life on your skin color, I feel like in some cases that is just an
