I was in South Korean at Camp Yongsan when I was offered an opportunity to begin class with Central Texas College, for free. My first class was a College Military Writing Class. I took this class and excelled through every assignment; I had found my long lost motivation to write. “Along with procedural know-how regarding the recursive approach to academic writing, novices are also developing their creative voice, a voice needed to balance the more familiar critical voice when initially generating ideas, and when reworking ideas and restructuring writing in the recursive process.” (Cameron, Nairn, Higgins 2009). This class provided me with an opportunity to construct my creative voice and opinion. This class also provided me with an opportunity to balance my creativeness with my critical view of my writings. Unfortunately, my schedule was too hectic to continue with enrollment into any other classes. In 2012, I was honorably discharged from the United States Army, after being injured. At this point in my life, I had to make a decision, I had to have a better plan. I decided to enroll at a local college known as Ivy Tech Community College; this is when my writing started to benefit my life and my education. I graduated in May of 2016, with academic honors. I am now in pursuit of my Bachelor’s Degree with Indiana Tech and hope to continue on to Law School, in the fall. I am confident in my writing because of the joy it brings me and the positive feedback that I receive from instructors, professors and my
