What makes saying no so difficult? According to the author of "The Community College Experience" we are taught from a young are that it is a bad word. We are taught that we should never say it to others. Moreover, this unfortunate cultural norm causes undue stress to our schedules. In my opinion, it's not just that we are taught that it's bad, were also taught that we are selfish for choosing our needs over the needs of other. We feel guilty and selfish if we say no. And, we all know that selfishness is terrible. In a different sense, we also made the word no into the worst of epithets, there is only negative emotions attached to it.
