From grade school to college, writing has been a main part of the curriculum. But she pushed her students to do better by giving them feedback and more than one draft submission, so that they could redo their mistakes. One question …show more content…
Having social media is a way for athletes to talk to the world without talking to people one by one I feel. I’m currently active on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and a website. It’s ways that I let people know how I’m doing because I don’t talk to them often due to the fact that I’m far away from home. With that being said, I believe that my audience would say that I’m a humble young man, working productively on his degree and on the track. Unlike many other people, instead of posting information relative to my personal life, I try to stay away from that because social media is not the place you want to put all of your information on. Even though I don’t put all of my business out there I find it exhilarating to be involved with public writing, because it allows you to connect to many different types of people in a variety of

The writing expected from college courses is one that most are unfamiliar with. Although students learn basic English skills throughout grade school and up to high school, most of the advanced steps are forgotten by the time the student is to enter college. Paired with this, are the nontraditional students, who haven’t studied advanced academic language for long periods of time. Professors are expecting students of all kinds of study to have a high academic vocabulary and high writing skill. Often times a gap in remedial writing courses within the first semester or so.…

The way I move through my own writing process is simple. I always start with research on a specific topic that an instructor gives me. I’m that kind of person that loves to highlight the important details of someone else’s information so I can admire her or his work in my papers. Then after finding the right amount of work to compose my own paper I start out with a title page.…

College Writing And Reading For The Incoming Freshman The transition between High School and University writing can be challenging to the ill-prepared student. In high school we might have gotten great feedback from teachers about our work: “great job”, “very good” etc, but in college our professors might comment differently most likely because they are searching for something different in college writing. Most often because professors expect a different style of writing than that of a high school class, such as a more developed opinion on the subject rather than a summary of what you researched. The most significant differences are visible in structure, research, argument, and format. In college writing, we move away from the standard…

According to a study done by Achieve Inc. in 2005, fifty percent of students that graduate high school are not prepared for college-level writing (Santrock, 2011, 370). While this lack of preparedness roots all the way back to the beginning of learning how to write, a great deal of knowledge about becoming a better writer can be learned in high school English classes if the teachers apply different writing techniques. In chapter eleven of John Santrock’s textbook Educational Psychology and Sharon Zumbrunn and Keegan Krause’s article “Conversations with Leaders: Principles of Effective Writing Instruction” many best practices for teaching writing are given in hopes to provide teachers with numerous ways to teach their students to become better…

I found writing to be enjoyable in my youth and even as far as my late teen years. It is common for me to go beyond the writing requirements for the assignments. Of course, this has its downfalls as well. I am constantly learning to stay within the required length of the papers and learn to make better use of my words to get my point across. With my first composition course being taken so long ago, I worry about my writing skills in the present.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…
