Reflective Essay: The Camarerri Case

Improved Essays
The semester is all but over; I can’t believe it. It truly feels like boot-camp was yesterday. While it only feels like a short period of time, so much has happened over the past three months and I’m very grateful for all that it entailed. A significant amount of progress has been made on the Camarerri case and I can wholeheartedly say that I’ve improved as a soon-to-be attorney as well. Aside from missing one class in observance of Rosh Hashana, I did not miss any classes. In the beginning of the semester I was a bit hesitant to participate in class because of my lack of knowledge in securities law, however, as the semester progressed I became more comfortable with the material and I began to participate with much more frequency. When we first got assigned the Camarerri case I was excited, yet somewhat overwhelmed at the same time. Our arbitration date was only six weeks away and there was a ton of work to get …show more content…
I’m proud that we were able to reach a settlement with Gregg Lorenzo and put $20,000 in Dominic’s pocket. I’m proud of the fact that we were able to get Cicero to agree to mediation. Also, I’m very proud of the fact that David Gehn complimented us on our work. When Professor Facciolo informed us of that compliment, I was elated. Hopefully we can come to an agreement at the mediation as well.
Overall, I am more than satisfied with my clinic experience as a whole. Again, Rebecca and Alyssa were a pleasure to work with, and you, Professor Facciolo and Professor Lazaro, allowed the experience to be both productive and enjoyable. I know that there are still several things I must improve on before (and while) I am an attorney. I will continue to work hard, and do my best to be my best. I truly am sad that the semester is almost over as this has been one of, if not the best experience I’ve had so far in law school. Well, at least we still have another few weeks with the

North Shore Community College celebrated “Law Day” this year by having noted criminal defense attorney J.W. Carney as a guest speaker. He began his speech by addressing how his own Paralegal makes his job easier by keeping him organized, and having him stay on track by telling him what needs to be done. He gave the advice of “follow your dreams” to anyone starting out in the legal profession. Attorney Carney stated the reason he became a lawyer was inspiration from watching the show “The Defenders,” and from movies like, “Gideon’s Trumpet.” In the beginning of his career, he worked for five years at the public defender’s office, five years as a prosecutor and now is in private practice.…

Tom, I have been talking with Mr. Bernardo (GPC’s lawyer) on a daily basis. Excluding the variables and with the joint effort of all, we understand that the lawsuit will have the following chronology: (A) Yesterday the GPC's lawyer talked with the Administrator of the Judicial Recovery. The Administrator would have said that the petition will be filed today to the case records. He also reported that will be favorable to the intended sale. (B) June 27th to July 6th - Period in which the process should be in the Prosecutor's Office.…

When we got admitted to law school, we all most likely encountered a number of emotions. Some of you might had felt positive feelings, other of you may had experienced mixed thoughts instead. However, it seems, that the longer we went on in our law school journey; the friends we were able to create, the professors whom went the extra mile for us, and the clubs that this school currently offers have helped made this law school feel less intimidating and more like a home. The Christian Legal Society should be chartered back to at WMU-Cooley Law School because we want to enable our members, individually, and as a group, to love the Lord with their whole beings - hearts, souls, and minds - and to love their neighbors as themselves.…

This has been a rather informative five weeks, we covered lots of material, and seven chapters already. However, the most important chapters included Jurisdiction, Statute of limitations and Complaint /answer drafting. In general, attention to detail is key, when calculating the statute of limitations. There are many grey areas, which make tolling the statue difficult depending on the specifics of the case. Undoubtedly, figuring out whom has jurisdiction if any is also a challenge for me jurisdiction includes: subject matter, personal jurisdiction and many others.…

In this fall semester of college what I’ve learned in Ms. Balderas class is knowing how to properly write a college written essay. I know after taking this course that I can somewhat write a well written essay that is college appropriate. In high school I was taught to write essay that were good enough for the teachers, but now that I’m in college I feel the need that I need to write better and show my instructor that I do know what I am writing about. I’ve learned so many ways to write a paper, but some of my essays aren’t there yet, I feel as if I haven’t gotten to the point where I’ve learned to write a paper that is good, but I know within time I’ll get there.…

For the past year, I could only provide an indefinite answer to a frequently asked question, How was your freshman year? In fact, those of us who experienced our freshman year could be addressed as “college veterans” will never initiate a conversation with regard to the past year. Perhaps they consider that the freshman year was not as consummate as they initially planned. I cannot judge my first year in college was successful or frustrating, but I feel I benefited from the meritorious experiences and practical knowledge gained from my college life. In my opinion, no matter what goals one wishes to achieve in college, whether its grade, love, health, or sense of accomplishment, one has to be prepared for both failures and…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

In the beginning of the semester, I would admit I was nervous to start my internship with the Divisional Clerks office. Before these past few months, I had only set-foot in a courthouse once or twice in my life for past tickets. Ever since I was eight years old, I have always wanted to be a lawyer. Growing up I enjoyed watching the television show; Law and Order Special Victims Unit, with my grandfather every day after school. When we would sit and watch the show together, my grandfather would tell me all the time “You would make a great lawyer Joe.”…
