How can a culture that makes something as rich and flavorful as a Shoefly Pie make something as bland as Chicken Pot Pie? I guess it doesn't matter since for some reason it's still so damn good!
btw, for people who aren't interbread w/ PA Deautsche relatives, Chicken Pot Pie doesn't really come in a box from the freezer or in a crust for that matter. It's more of a broth and isn't thick with veggies, it's basically chicken, 1/4'd potatos, and big square noodles. It's basically the whitest looking meal ever!!! There's some celery and onions usually. I think a lot of people do put a few carrots in, so there may be some orange in some, lol. But I've never seen a pea in any real pot pie in my life! Anyhow, there's your PA Dutch cooking
