Reflection On Activitie

When reflecting over the activity given to me, I made the realization that I act alone and do the same activity when I read textbooks or even article because I am not a strong independent reader. I struggle to fully comprehend what I am reading sometimes it may come down to simple little key factors such as not being interested in the reading, or I could be distracted at the time, and maybe the reading doesn’t feel entertaining to me. These are all thought and ideas I got from reflecting over this assignment to determine what I feel sometimes as a student myself. So I know similar thought are going through my student’s minds. Though by doing activities like the “Say Something Strategy” when we are giving a reading assignment as educators, we will be able to see some of the difficulties that our students may be facing with reading. I feel after putting this activity to use I had a deeper understanding of what I was actually reading. I was finally seeing areas that I may even need to go back and re-read in the chapters given to me as grad student. By having a list of five different topics to reflect on, to recollect what we read is a very insightful idea to offer to ourselves as readers as well as to our students. By offering during reading activities as teachers we will have a better understanding of what really works with the assignment. To see the flaws and attributes of the activities just like this one. Though I believe the strengths for this activity would be students are holding each other responsible. They know if they cannot answer the given topics provided for them in their discussion to reflect over the reading, then they must re-read till they fully comprehend. This is another great way to not only see collaboration within our classrooms, but to see our students helping each other grow as learners from their own
