Reflective Essay On Volunteering At The NHS Senior Citizen Home

All great people that encompass capabilities to spread a positive influence and change the world for the better all share a common array of characteristics. Just like Martin Luther King, Mother Teresa, and Mahatma Gandhi shared their ideals of selflessness and generosity, the NHS applicants should share the common characteristics of service, leadership, scholarship, and character. Personally, I fulfill the criteria for selection through the countless experiences and exposures I have had throughout high school.
To commence, I define service to the community and school as having volunteer experience and a ready hand to help anyone at any time. I have served the community through my volunteering at CareOne and St. Joseph’s Hospital. At the CareOne Senior Citizen Home, I would play games and start conversations with the elderly because they enjoyed such activities and I enjoyed learning about their lives. Moreover, through my encounters with the elderly, I have learned that they are just like anyone else, but due to all of their experiences, they have a lot of sagacity. Throughout high school, I have always pushed myself for greater academic excellence through taking rigorous courses. Although I might not have succeeded at first, I listened to the advice of my teachers and kept trying until I succeeded. Furthermore, I never settle for the amount of knowledge I already possess because there is always something great to be learned. For instance, in my free time I love exploring the world through hiking trips and watching documentaries about the wonders of Earth.
