Inhale. Exhale. Our breath, the involuntary action of our bodies taking in air through our lungs and then expelling it, offers us the ability to live. The journey of my life has major twists and turns as well as massive hills and boulders, but it contains the daily sunset and sunrise that gives my life purpose. Although the novel, The Stranger by Albert Camus, demonstrates Monsieur Meursault’s existentialist view of no purpose in life, I find we must live our lives to the fullest and take the opportunity to explore and find happiness. My every day sunrise and sunset that fill my life with meaning are the teachings of Buddhism, exercising, and the gifts of Mother Nature. Exercising adds meaning to my life because not only does it boost my mood, it is also is an important practice of improving my lifestyle to become stronger, healthier, and looking my best. After my sports of cross country and swimming, I have been visiting the weight room to keep myself in shape and healthy. Weight room does not only educate the different types of exercises and movements to workout different parts of my body, but it also provides me with an environment filled with students who all share the same purpose, to become a stronger version of themselves. Working out, especially with different people, fills me with joy as I give and receive encouragement to keep my purpose and work harder. Exercising allows me to physically see my muscles build up and become leaner to prepare myself for my future healthy lifestyle. I look forward to working out at least six times a week because when I sweat, I have a positive mindset of knowing that I have put in my best effort to improve my body.
