Reflective Essay On The ELL Classroom

In an English classroom- full of non-native speakers, being the only person along with a Lebanese American girl was dissimilar to a normal English class at high school. While sitting in a cold chair, my hands were sweating and shaking as the teacher instructed us heavy assignments that would overthink my brain out. On the blackish table, pencil scribbling and eraser marks are left on the worksheet. As I grasp to defeat my past middle school/elementary illiteracy, nothing really modify during 12+ years in the ELL program. However, there were crucial topics that were covered from the ELL classes- such as advanced vocabulary, reading out loud , and the most important of all is learning to write a high school essay. All of these topics gained me knowledge on the usage of American English, but it wasn’t enough. After all, my grammar, writing, speaking, listening, and reading (understanding the context, not the speaking part) affected my whole high school experience and wasn't compare to a normal student at high school. …show more content…
Sayings such as,“Hi Andy, how are you?” I responded, “I am good and you?” There wasn’t much conversational with them since I’ve purposely listen and analysing my bus friends when I was in my junior year, and all the way from middle school to now. It was always a quick talk and never a real interaction between them. As time went on, my bus friends don’t have anything to talk about. I never told them I was in ELL level 1,2,3,4 classes because it would create an amateurish reputation on my status. Eventually, my bus friends were no longer friends with me anymore. It’s like comparing a parrot learning to speak to other parrots to each other, but one of them have other parrot friends to talk
