Arriving home after a long and monotonous day of school, I lob my backpack against my trusty chair and it collapses to its side. Conversely, I find myself wanting to do the same. What I had learned and what I had to do were a couple of the things that went through my mind as I reflected on the day. School work was something I could not have said that I found fun or interesting, however, I could also not have said that I found the work I did insignificant, right? Quickly, I realized that the entire education system I went through lead up to college. Consequently, that would be the next step in life that I was most prepared for. …show more content…
Following weeks of research, talks, and stress, I found that business seemed like the right fit for me at the moment. The spontaneity of the market as well as being the thing that makes the world turn was something that caught my eye to say the least. After finding what I wanted to study, I hid beneath the blankets of business having an incredible amount of job opportunities, however, I knew that I wouldn’t be able to hide behind that blanket forever. Through a stroke of luck, I heard that my cousin worked as an accountant. With an open mind and curiosity, I ‘interviewed’ her about her job and quickly fell in love with it. The stability of the accounting tied in with the aspects I loved in business. Both my teachers and peers supported the idea of it as well and that was all the motivation I needed to believe I found what I had yearned for.
Being able to follow the career path I currently find interest in would help me find stability and confidence in my actions knowing that I am able to follow through with what I set my mind on. Accounting, however, is not necessarily a career that will make a big impact in Hawaii. I can find resolution in this drawback nonetheless. My career aspirations have little to do with what I can do to help the community outside of my working hours. The idea of going to work at one of these prestigious firms, such as Goldman Sachs or J.P. Morgan Chase, truly excites me. If this does not happen a job as a personal financial consultant would also be a career I would enjoy to have. My last resort though will be to just get a job in a corporate setting. A job in a corporation will be the best suited for a degree in Business Management. Tara Perrault, the individual I interviewed, did this with her degree.…
