By the end of the session we were able to fulfill our purpose. We began with the issue of social life being more of a priority than Trudy’s school work. In the beginning of the semester Trudy had many goals set out as far as her school work. But, in this session I heard that she did not meet any of those goals. Which got us into the importance of Trudy’s social life. She believed her social life was more important than school which got us on to the topic of her quitting her job. I was unaware that Trudy had two jobs. But that didn’t stop the conversation or make it uncomfortable if anything, it kept the conversation flowing. Finally, I remembered that Trudy’s family is a major aspect in her life which mad me ask her about it. When I began the session, I asked Trudy an open question, “Tell me what’s been going on lately?”. This open question allowed me to get a lot of information on how Trudy was feeling about school and her social life. While she was talking, I was practicing my attending and active listening skills. I made it appoint to show her that I was giving her al my attention. Once and while I was say “ok” or nod my head. The entire time she talked I made it a point to give her eye contact. However, when I would talk to her I would break eye contact, which I also did in the last session. Sometimes after she finished talking I would clarify and use summary. Like after the first answer you got I started off by saying, “What I’m here is…?”. At another point I gave a brief summary of a past session we had which tied into what we were talking about in this session. I was proud of myself when I, I hit the nail on what Trudy was saying to the point that she said, “Yeah, that’s a good way to put it.” Overall, I believe I did a great job on using the skills I’ve learned in
