My time in room 303 during my senior year of high school has been interesting. I experienced immediate progress in my writing and reading abilities. The professors famous lectures were definitely all they were hyped up to be. His unfamiliar way of teaching has proven to be a success. My reading and writing scores continued to increase throughout the school year. The lengthy year flew by with the help of Mr. McGee and his entertaining lectures. This was one of the first time I have enjoyed doing so much homework, and this is all owed to the teacher who truly taught me how to read. There are a few things that I wish I could have done a better job with. Yet there are also some categories where I am proud of what I accomplished. This self-reflection …show more content…
There were countless times during this school year where I would use any loophole possible to get extra time on an assignment. One disadvantage that I had was not having the use of a printer at home. If I was capable of finishing my work completely at home, I do believe that a few more assignments would have been turned in at the proper time. This is still not an excuse, because excuses are for losers. I have acquired a tendency to be a procrastinator during my highschool days. This has been a bad habit to obtain. The skipping of class to finish work, or the use of the "next day rule" was something that I commonly did. At the next level of education this will not be a possible path. If I want to be a success at my next stop on the learning train, I must learn to deal with deadlines in a more appropriate manner. These small loopholes that I have discovered throughout high school will not be present at higher levels of education. I must delete this bad habit of procrastination, whether it is skipping school or using the hidden gateways to turning late assignments in for full credit, before arriving at the university. One way that I will work on this during the summer is to never miss an unnecessary day of work. During the summer I will be on my "A-Game" the whole time, and never be late to any event no matter the importance of it. A goal that I will set for next year is to obtain a perfect attendance. My procrastination habits have grown throughout high school, and I used the loopholes countless times during my time in room 303. This will not be a proper way to manage my schoolwork at the next level of education, and I must begin working with deadlines in a more appropriate

Writing has always been a part of my life that I have both fond and not so good memories about it. Starting in the early years of elementary school, I can remember teachers emphasizing us to be creative in our writings so that they would stand out from the others in the classroom. Some people may think that writing is just to get through an assignment and on to the next one; however, it has always had a way of enveloping me into the writing process since high school. Throughout my English classes in high school, I grew from being an average writer, to feeling like I was excelling at my work. The process that I went through was possible because of the English teachers that I was fortunate to have my later years in high school.…

Progress Throughout the 2014 fall semester at the University of Evansville, I was enrolled in First Year Seminar with the topic title being: Sex, Love, and Lust. I enjoyed the class very much and I am very glad that I decided to take it. Throughout the course we wrote four papers, including a narrative, a response, a synthesis, and an argument. Each was difficult in its own way, but I managed to work through the issues I was having in the writing process and pull out with what I feel are really good grades. Each paper got more difficult as more texts got introduced, but it only led to a more accomplished feeling as each paper was completed.…

This has helped my work flow more and added a keen sense of intelligence. I have seen much improvement in my essays but have seen the most significant change from my first entrance essay “My season”, to my major events essay “Wayward Feelings”, to my final argumentative essay “A Helpful Hand”. Coming into this semester and class I knew I was a good “writer” but I knew the grammar side of it needed improvement. In my first essay of the semester “My season” I noticed…

I don’t plan on working a part time job at Krispy Kreme for the rest of my life, which is why I have to find the relevance in putting my class work before my job. I have to focus on the big dream, the reason why I am even in school in the first place. Being that I am a great procrastinator, weighs heavily on my success as well. While I am doing my work, I get distracted from getting bored easily when I am doing something for a long period of time. Although I know the due dates of my assignments, I choose to wait until nearly hours before to complete them, causing me extra stress.…

Though I struggled with vocally participating in discussions during the first weeks of this course, I significantly improved by the end of the semester. I began to prepare more carefully for class by closely analyzing the posted documents and videos, which helped me feel more comfortable in contributing to the discussion. I also enjoyed taking an active role within group projects and giving my final presentation, as it was a great opportunity to hone my public speaking skills. Overall, this class has served as a wonderful introduction to Case Western Reserve University and the SAGES program as a…

Throughout high school I have improved my writing through class warmups to standardized tests. I have also learned and demonstrated that I am capable of producing well written papers and essays In the past four years the areas of writing that I have been the most successful in are essays because I can quickly write on the topic, then compared to my ability to write with nothing to start off of. But over the past four years my ability has significantly increased, I have gone from starting sentences with the same word consistently, and making punctuation errors to making very few. I also had errors in my citations, explanations, and the amount of times that I…
