Reflective Essay On Race And Ethnicity

Ethnicity I am an African-American woman and I am proud to be one. By being part of this cultural group some beliefs that I have learned are to be independent. Another is to work towards my goals and not let thing anything stop me. I also believe family is most important. I am very close to my family and they are my biggest supporters. I also have learned that when I start a job I give that job my best effort, even if I do not like it. I was taught that there is no such thing as quitting. I also have learned that there is no such thing as gender roles, at least in my family there isn’t. In my house we all generally work together to get work done. One thing that I learned from being a Baptist is that Jesus died for our sins so that we can live a better life. I learned that in a time of need I can turn to the Lord and my church family for guidance and support. One thing that I do not like about my past church, not specifically my religion, is some of the members were liars, thieves, hypocrites, and nosey. Being surrounded by people who were not following their religion or the ways of the Lord drew me away from my religion and church. Today I still consider myself a Baptist but I do not attend church the way that I use to. I came to this point because I felt that the people I was surrounded by made me look at all churches and members that way and that is not something that I want to go through again. I know that every church has its problems but I want to make sure that when I do return to church the way I use to that I am in the right place and surrounded by people who do not attend church for show or fashion, but to have a better relationship with God. I never stopped believing in my religion, I just knew that for me to grow into a better person I needed to be surrounded by different people and ready to fully live my life the way I
