Reflecting back on how my personal learning network has grown throughout the variety of roles I have held in public education, this assignment has helped me to realize that social networking tools have played a much bigger role in my professional learning than I had originally thought. As a whole my network seems to be a balance between print, digital and face-to-face interactions. Currently, I am a member of ASCD and enjoy getting their monthly publications and do take time to read the quarterly books that are sent. Professional reading has always been an enjoyment for me and seems to guide my digital searches. I enjoy Pinterest and searching Google images to see how other educators are putting the ideas I have read about into practice. Google …show more content…
That conference was my first experience with Twitter, I created my account, followed several groups and/or individuals and paid attention to the conversation that was happening on the "backchannel" the entire time I was at the conference. I learned so much about my practice at that conference and came with so many ideas; unfortunately, Twitter was not one that stuck around. My account has been static for nearly 4 years now! My plan with this project is to renew my interest my Twitter account. Thus far, I have reviewed, updated and added new groups to follow; I have made a point of checking the news feed at least once a day; I have also clicked on several of the feeds to read the conversations that ensue after the tweet. All of these actions are helping me to understand how I can use Twitter as a part of my professional practice. Currently, I’m still in a phase of processing and exploring Twitter, I do see the potential, but feel I need continue to revise and update who I’m following to create an online network that extends my thinking and practice. At this time, our district does not promote social networking during the school day. Posting and communicating with others through Twitter is going to need to be something I explore during the upcoming school
