Communication Is Key: Tips For Successful Parent And Classmates

Prof and Classmates:

Well, this is a hard decision to make I have had both best and a worst parent/teacher conference with both of my now adult children. However, I think I will discuss the worst, because I hope it NEVER happens to any of you as parents or if you are going into the teaching profession.
First, let me explain what happened and then I will discuss our readings and some other research regarding the matter. I had a scheduled conference with my son’s teachers and a counselor one morning when he was in the 7th grade. My son was and still is an extremely intelligent and gifted person, but he was getting bored with his classes. His grades were great, but his attitude and attention were not as good as they should have been.

I had placed my trust into this woman and she broke that trust. The law in Texas makes this a misdemeanor but she had that on a record now and she lost her teaching position and so did the school counselor. We have every right and a responsibility to protect our children. We want to keep them safe. We want them to grow up know the consequences of doing right from wrong. We want our children to be successful in the future.
What this original teacher did is in our readings this week on the article, “Communication is Key: Tips for Successful Parent Conferences” by Susan A. Miller.
In the heading, under Record Keeping according to Miller (2008), it clearly states, “In order to keep communication open and be respectful during the conference, the teacher may wait to take notes until the conference is over. It is important not to record confidential information that should not be shared with others.” The teacher did not put the information in the records, but she had written it down on a notepad, which should not have been done because of the confidentiality of the matter that we spoke and she later told this to a counselor during a discussion that they had outside of school

Some reasons that come to mind that Amelia’s mother may have not been available to meet at the assigned conference period may be due to a schedule conflict with her work, or possible that she has to stay home and take care of the grandmother. There could be a chance that she forgot because there was a lack of communication such as reminders. To ensure a that Amelia’s mother was going to attend the conference Mrs. Richardson should have had a sign-up sheet of dates and times she was having conferences, if Amelia’s mother was not on the sign-up sheet then Mrs. Richardson could have tries to contact her through email or calling her on the telephone. The first issue that Mrs. Richardson need to take into consideration is being able to be flexible in accommodating a conference time that is appropriate for Amelia’s mother and possible father to attend.…

Besides the teamwork and communication skills that I have developed through participation in interscholastic activities, taking part in these events has given me the opportunity to meet new people, step out of my comfort zone, and discover more about myself. I have met many students from other schools through participation in extracurricular activities, and as a result, I have established friendships and other connections with people from all over North Dakota. Interscholastic activities have also helped me overcome my insecurity and step outside my comfort zone. When I was in junior high, I was shy and did not feel comfortable pushing myself beyond what I thought I could do. Today, because of the skills I have developed through activities…

Step 6: The Implementation Plan? According to Bailey & Birch, “In your own job, if you find yourself in a situation where you have to decide if you should contact the parents of a client, there are some things to think about. Think about the time and place to meet with the parents and how to best present your case” (Bailey & Birch, 2017). Although this alludes to you meeting privately the privately with the parents the principles remain the same. The best time to meet with the parents would be a time that both of the parents have time to meet with the supervisor and Liz, and in a quiet, private, relaxing atmosphere and place.…

It was as if the school was simply having these meeting because they were mandated by IDEA, not because they genuinely cared about what they were telling the parents. In reality, these meeting were completely unnecessary. Under the language alienation subheading, the article states how parents felt the information was basically being dictated at them. In most cases parents really had little to no opportunity to give much feedback or even communicate back with the teacher, in some cases this was contributed to their lack of understanding the English language. This is why the purpose of having a bilingual special-education teacher is to be able to communicate to parents in the language they are most comfortable in.…

The education system in America is praised for being globally competitive, providing students with what they need to succeed domestically and abroad. If this is true, how come our schools continue to employ poor performing, unmotivated teachers? Why is it almost impossible to fire a teacher who has been accused multiple times of inappropriate or unprofessional behavior towards their students. Why have more than half of school administrators never reported these incidents, even though they are fully aware? One word: Tenure.…

The purpose of this study is to examine how the media portrays parent-child communication about sex and the role that family structure plays in the communication between the parent and child. This area of study is important to examine as we know that the media can shape the perspectives of individuals, however it leaves us to question to what extent the media shapes conversations about sex within a family unit. We may often take for granted how our opinions are influenced by media and that we, as a society, might not acknowledge their full impact on family communication. Our hope in conducting this analysis of a television show is to discover how and why parent-child communication about sex occurs and how that relates to the family structure presented in a television show that has aired in the past 10 years. Given our limitation on time and resources, we used the Netflix database to find potential shows that could provide multiple examples of parent-child communication.…

I would like to extend my sincerest thanks for taking your time to consider my candidacy for the Educational Psychology/School Psychology program at the University of Wisconsin. I have always been drawn to behavioral psychology, the phenomenon of learning, and educational processes. After discovering that I had a special talent for working with children and at-risk youth, I eagerly began my academic pursuit in elementary education. With ever-increasing learning demands, and limited time and resources, I quickly learned that inevitably some children fail to perform adequately among their peers. This reality came quite clear to me through my experience working and substitute teaching in a public elementary school.…

However, just as important, not telling the parents about their child’s behavior is not ethical as well. Since, Ideal 2.2 states that as a teacher I must develop a relationship with the family based on trust as well as create partnerships with the families (NAEYC, 2011). Keeping secrets about the child is not building a trusting relationship nor is it creating a partnership. Likewise, if police are to be involved I must first exhaust all other possible solutions on my list, like consulting with my director, provide the parents with evidence-based resources to equip them with…
