Genesysworks Reflection

One event that had a major impact on my life was me enrolling in the program called Genesysworks. This program not only changed how I thought about life after school but also opened my eyes to the possibilities of life after education. As I got to experience what it truly feels like to work in the real business world and how it works. Though not only did I get to work in a real business enviornment but also I've met many great people who both encouraged and supported me throughout this experience. People who before I thought were complete strangers, were now trusted friends who I could rely on to help me decide my future.

During this program I had eight grueling weeks of training during the my summer break of my Junior year. This is where

I had many fellow high school students like me from all over minnesota who were going through the same experience as me. But because of this I made many great friends over the eight weeks of training which was to my surprise as I didn’t expect to. As I myself have always been a very shy person and when joining this program I didn’t expect to make many friends at all. However I did and even after the eight weeks of summer training I still keep in contact with them. Something the old me wouldn’t not of done. I also met great mentors who taught me the business and IT skills during the trainnig. These people would become a great support for not only internship but also for college. As they not only gave me real life advice for working in the professional business world but also advice about college. They would help me choose the colleges that fit me, recommend potential scholarships, and overall walk me through the college process. If not for them, I don’t know if I would of been able to make the right decisions. Though because of both my mentors and new friends, I was able to grow as a person. I was interned at the company called Polaris, an American manufacturer company of ATVs, Snowmobiles, and motorcycles. At Polaris I am assigned to be a part of the testing team. This meant that I am tasked with the important job of testing their products before they release them to the public. However I was not testing Polaris vehicles but instead testing their app called Ride Command for any bugs or issues that would ruin a customer’s experience. This is first real business experience I ever had so at first it was really nerve racking for me at first as I really didn’t know what to expect. Especially from my fellow co-workers and new supervisor. I thought that working for big companies like Polaris would be strict and overall not a good experience. But my expectations were shattered as days went by working there, I realized that it was not what I expected. Everyone was extremely nice to me and working there wasn’t as strict as I thought. As it was a very relaxed place to work, plus everyone there are always willing to give an helping hand and are very social. This gave me whole new perspective on what it truly means to work in a professional business envirornment. Not secluding yourself in you work but working and socializing with your fellow co-workers. Something I hope to carry with me in my future

Many events throughout an individual 's life will help to shape the kind of person they become. These events can be both depressing and inspirational. Examples of life altering events may include the loss of a loved one, the birth of a child, near-death experiences, or even participating in large scale events that comply with either their life goals or career paths. One event that has helped to shape my own life was attending the NHSFR, or National High School Finals Rodeo. I qualified as the only sophomore in bull riding, being the only competitor in the top 8 that was not an outgoing senior that year.…

I got the opportunity to do my internship at Houston Methodist West Hospital. I have been working for Methodist for the past 4 years in our registration department and out of those four years, I have had the opportunity to work with 3 different management teams. Although, each of my management teams delivered different methods on how to properly register a patient under 7 min or less, our goal we have always strived for was keeping our patient satisfaction scores at a high. Our organization implemented a strategy called AIDET, (Acknowledge, Introduce, Duration, Explain, and Thank you) to make this process work effectively. As our patient were very impressed with our ICARE values, (Integrity, Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Excellence)…

My series of rather challenging events seven years ago, when my family moved from Myanmar to the United States. I had just turned nine when my sister received news that she was accepted into UC Berkeley. My whole family was ecstatic as we prepared for our move to San Francisco. People tried to explain to me what it would be like to live on the other side of the ocean. Little did I know, San Francisco and Yangon were polar opposites - one a bustling, concrete city and the other a quiet, somber town.…

During my internship experience, I learned a lot of things that I thought I knew but are misconstrued on. With that being said, I know everything must be done in decent order or this will cause chaos and lead to confusion. I also learned everything takes patience and is very time- consuming. I became frustrated, so many times and just wanted to give up, but I had to remind myself that hard times are going to come and everything is going to work out. Many times I sat on my bed crying because it seems like everything piled on me at one time.…
