I had many fellow high school students like me from all over minnesota who were going through the same experience as me. But because of this I made many great friends over the eight weeks of training which was to my surprise as I didn’t expect to. As I myself have always been a very shy person and when joining this program I didn’t expect to make many friends at all. However I did and even after the eight weeks of summer training I still keep in contact with them. Something the old me wouldn’t not of done. I also met great mentors who taught me the business and IT skills during the trainnig. These people would become a great support for not only internship but also for college. As they not only gave me real life advice for working in the professional business world but also advice about college. I was interned at the company called Polaris, an American manufacturer company of ATVs, Snowmobiles, and motorcycles. At Polaris I am assigned to be a part of the testing team. This meant that I am tasked with the important job of testing their products before they release them to the public. However I was not testing Polaris vehicles but instead testing their app called Ride Command for any bugs or issues that would ruin a customer’s experience. This is first real business experience I ever had so at first it was really nerve racking for me at first as I really didn’t know what to expect. Especially from my fellow co-workers and new supervisor. I thought that working for big companies like Polaris would be strict and overall not a good experience. But my expectations were shattered as days went by working there, I realized that it was not what I expected. Everyone was extremely nice to me and working there wasn’t as strict as I thought. As it was a very relaxed place to work, plus everyone there are always willing to give an helping hand and are very social. This gave me whole new perspective on what it truly means to work in a professional business envirornment. Not secluding yourself in you work but working and socializing with your fellow co-workers. Something I hope to carry with me in my future
