Reflective Essay On My Diet

During a five day period from changing my diet I have felt an improvement in my health while regaining overall balance in my life. After reviewing the Energy Balance report, I have noticed that I ate many highly nutritious foods that were composed of more fruits and vegetables rather than my original health habits. Each day throughout the five day period stayed relatively the same based on my food intake and physical activity level. Although I have shown an improvement in my diet in nutritious benefits I fail to meet the daily recommended mark of 1798 per day. My diet caused a minor loss in weight combined with moderate amounts of exercise. However, throughout the five day period I have significantly reduced the amount of exercise that I should …show more content…

According to the intake report, my diet had vitamins and minerals that were below 100% which included thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamin B6, vitamin B12, folate, vitamin C, vitamin D, alpha-tocopherol, calcium, iron, potassium, zinc, and sodium. In addition, the macronutrient that is the highest within my diet is my total fat percentage at 85%. According to an article about Macronutrients and Micronutrients, “macronutrients supply the energy, measured in calories, in this description: 55% to 60% from carbohydrates, 25% to 30% from fats, and 5% to 10% from proteins.” The negative result of the high percentage of fat in my diet is unhealthy which would cause the body to store excess fat with a lack of physical activity. I can also reduce the tendency to eat desserts and sugary beverages by drinking green tea and waiting to determine that my body is …show more content…
Goals report and the intake Spreadsheet my lowest micronutrient is vitamin D. Although I have made an effort to go outside and enjoy the outdoors for long hours at a time my clothes don’t reveal enough skin to earn enough vitamin D. After reading the article Micronutrients Matter, I have learned that” micronutrients are the necessity of a complete macronutrient profile to foster muscle gains, support performance, and decrease bod fat. “It is important to find a health balance with micros and macros to help build a healthier body. I intend to pay closer attention to avoid fast food and food that are extra high in sugar so I can focus on continuing to find a proper balance in my diet. I have learned that those two factors in addition to the way I eat have affected my diet and whether I maintain a healthy weight. The My Plate Analysis results have shown that my diet is lacking in lean protein. At this time I am consuming lots of fruits and vegetables but I also need to eat them in proper portion along with the food I

Health and nutrition, particularly my own, is something I have taken special interest in lately as I’ve come to realize I’m rapidly approaching the second half of my life and want it to be as good as, or even better than, the first half. My value could be low possibly from the fact that I don’t normally eat large entrees that are high in carbohydrate content (i.e. pasta dishes etc) and would rather balance my meals with fruits, vegetables, and some sort of protein source. The higher amounts of fats in my diet was alluded to in my calories and fat report, because my fat intake was equating to be 35% of my caloric intake, which is the limit of the range. If my fat intake increases by 68 calories or 7.5 grams, then this will put my intake above the goal range.…

For example, I am not getting a sufficient amount of dairy, protein, or calcium; strangely, I do enjoy eating these foods.
