It too allowed me to be very creative with my writing. I very much enjoyed writing that assignment. I thought outside of the box with the way I structured and organized my Open Letter. I had decided to go with a different approach since I had such a common topic, which was Black Lives Matter. At first I was very reluctant to write on this topic. Even though I am passionate about this topic, I did not want to sound like the mad black girl that people tend to not take seriously. After considering how long I could discuss this topic and not being able to think of something else, I decided to do it. Even though I have strong feeling about this topic, I have never spoken on it. This assignment helped me to release the small amount of anger I was holding in regarding my feelings about this topic. I started with “Dear Murder,” thus making the reader think what could I possibly be talking about to have started off my letter in that way. Therefore making them want to continue to read to figure out my reasoning. I also tried to describe and allude to the recipient of my letter without explicitly saying it until the very end. I personally think it is my strongest piece in this portfolio, because of it’s creative approach to that
