Personal Narrative-Algebra Changed My Life

Many people believe this mentality only applies in the face of physical danger or personal fear. Many people are, in fact, incorrect. Courage applies to every undertaking, be it facing your fears, standing up to a bully, auditioning for a performing arts role, or taking an advanced course in school. Algebra II has been my most challenging course so far. Due to an incompatible teaching style, earning an A proved to be a true test of my courage. I have always loved mathematics. My passion led me to enroll in Pre-Algebra as a sixth grader, skipping two years worth of material. As I grew, so did my desire to learn. At the beginning of freshman year(2016-17), I found myself in one of two freshman Algebra II classes. I was grouped with the top 50(of around 1300) students, and I realized that I was part of the most elite group of students in the number 1 ranked public school in Mississippi. Immediately I indulged myself in my work, nothing could keep me from my prize. Some days I still could not comprehend the material. Those days I would spend my lunch getting one on one help with my instructor. Through diligence I would gradually recover from my intellectual schizophrenia. My grade had remained an A all through the semester, but with a recent test not yet graded, I decided my punishment for a bad grade would be taking the exam.
