Reflective Essay On Brave New World

Leadership is a fundamental part to an individual's success and the success of their peers. A leader strives to include each individual in all tasks and guides them in the right direction. Lack in leadership causes an individual to have a shortfall in confidence within themselves and those they are surrounded by thus resulting that individual to decrease the overall efficiency of those around them. Less than a year ago I was this individual and becoming an AHS Student Ambassador supplied me with the tools to help me transform into a leader which was the greatest gift I ever received.

Throughout middle school and the beginning of high school, I was anything but a leader. I often found myself being lost in the classroom because all I did was sit in the corner of the room without taking an active role within my education. Whenever we had to participate in this discussions called Socratic Seminars I believed that my ideas weren’t “good enough” consequently

Within my second semester of school, we had to participate in a Socratic Seminar regarding the book Brave New World I was so excited I keep on sharing my ideas and opinions on the book. As the conversation carried on I realized very few of my peers were vocal so I had to tap into my leadership skills obtained and find ways to include them similar to how I had to include my shadow. As a result of me including all of my peers in the discussion they began to feel comfortable with sharing their ideas thus creating a deep conversation where I learned a vast amount of information that I never knew was placed in the book. After that experience, I was proud of myself because only six months before I was struggling just to speak once within the Socratic Seminar and the immense amount of growth I have had was all accredited to the ambassador
