Personal Narrative: If You Are Like Me

Improved Essays
If you are like me, you have a difficult time learning to balance life in general. My hardest thing is using my time efficiently and learning when to say “no” to people. I have realized that I spend more than eight hours of my week sitting on my butt watching television. That time could be much more productive and I could actually get ahead in my day-to-day duties as a mother and housewife. With better time management skills, I would be able to get a lot more done during the day. It would also make my life just a tad more organized and structured.

Currently, I have a lot going on in my life. I have a seven-month-old child, a fiance, attending school, and a little girl to babysit. The day is gone before I realize it and I have not got anything

The dry erase board helps me remember and keeps the day organized. I love having the list to remind me of what all can wait such as laundry, sweeping, and to clean out my car. Those such things can wait till I am all caught up with school work and my son is all satisfied, which seems like never. It also makes me feel calm because it feels as if I do not have so much to cram into one day.

Nevertheless, we just do not have to do something at all. We have a family, friends and loved ones who help us if we would just ask. I hate asking people for help but at this time in life, I need it most. I never knew I could get so much accomplished by delegating to other people. We all know that we have to ask our spouses more than once to do something but eventually, they will get it done. All-in-all what helps the most here is I do not have to do something and that saves me time for more important things.

Overall, the time management worksheet has helped me organize my time more than it was. Using this tool for just a few short days has changed the way we do things. We have more of a schedule and know what needs to be done and what can wait for a few hours or days. This has made me realize that there is always room for improvement. Time management is so important because, without it, busy people like myself or you would never get much

I know I am a workaholic and I am trying to get away from this I am learning to delegate and put my foot down, especially saying “No”. I know I have always felt satisfied when I kept doing more and endlessly tiring myself. I know I have been encouraged by my own self to be me, to be straight with people and with my own self; my own wants and feelings rather than crooked and covert. In this manner I am learning to understand what I want and possibly how to get it.…

It is the morning of July 4th, 2008: I groan as my mother gently whispers, “teneshi yene mar (Get up honey)”. Struggling I open my eyes and notice the trembling cabin, I turn to my mother with a look of concern and she reaches out her hand and squeezes my own looking up at me, “we are going to be okay Mar”. A couple of moments later our plane has landed, we gather up our belongings and make our way towards the exit filled with people attached to their screens and MP3 players. The airport is filled with an undercurrent of anticipation, impatience, and boredom; bodies scramble back and forth from one gate to another. My mother, attempting to balance three children, clasps my hand, holds my little brother to her waist and calls back to my older…

What I learned about myself is that I have potential for being a global manager. Looking over the questions, I tend to lack in my experiences more than my actual skills. What I’ve learned is that I can adapt quick and connect with people easily, but I don’t have many experiences in it. To widen my range of experiences I would most likely have to travel more and emerge myself directly into new cultures. I would also have to study different languages a bit more for that is an area I very much lack in.…
