During all of my academic experience, I have always exceled in both the English and Spanish Language Arts. As a young child I felt a need to immerse my head into books. While my peers discussed the new cartoon episodes all I could seem to talk about were the plots of the thick chapter books that I placed back on my bookshelf once I had finished reading them. In fact, I was not the type of kid that spent hours in front of a television set I have always preferred to discover a whole new world in pages attached to one another inside a hard cover. My mom says I was practically born questioning everything. In fact she claims I questioned the existence of every little piece of trash to the point where she became exhausted of answering all of my questions, so she would pretend to be asleep. I would not doubt it because even today as a teenager I have a thirst for knowledge. I question everything, and I do not stop until I get closer to an answer. In reality I have never come to a precise answer to any of my questions, but that is just the nature of being human. My brain is like a shovel that digs deeper and deeper. I am able to speak in front of large crowds of people thanks to my bravery. Many say they experience perspiration. To me it seems as if most people are frightened to expose their ideas because they are scared of being criticized. However, I believe we are our own harshest critic. When I take the stage or hold a microphone I believe in my authenticity. And once I believe in myself, I have proven my harshest critic wrong. This technique has resulted extremely beneficial in several speech and debate competitions that I have participated
