Reflective Essay: Objects In The Classroom

Looking at my poster, there is a variety of objects that appear to have nothing in common. What they do have in common is me. Brainstorming for this project was difficult because I thought there would be no way that a poster could summarize my life. But, as I was putting the poster together, I realized it wasn’t very hard to condense me as a person to a sheet of paper with objects on it. I chose objects that have to do with things i’m involved in or that represent who I am. I chose to include tennis balls because I play tennis. However, it’s much more than that. Tennis, along with sports in general, have fueled my competitive fire and brought me to who I am today. Growing up, i’ve always played sports. I started playing soccer when I could walk. I loved the idea of team sports and how they made me feel-like I was a part of something. Independence was, and continues to be, one of my biggest struggles. I’m going to study elementary education. I want to be an elementary school teacher when I grow up. I really like kids and I feel like teachers are one of the most important people in kid’s lives. Teachers prepare students for real life. I want to impact children in a positive way that makes them want to learn and help set them up for success. There is a cross on my poster because I’ve always been religious. I’m a Christian, a baptist more specifically. My religion has provided me with my values and morals. This impacted me growing up and it continues to through high school. My parents raised me in the church and I’m glad they did. I learned what was right and what was wrong from my pastor as well as the member of the church. The people at church have always been good examples for me growing up.
