Reflective Essay: My Writing As A Strong Writer

Improved Essays
I have never been a strong writer as I don’t have much creativity. I have a hard time coming up with ideas and I work better with facts rather than fiction. One of the things that I need to improve on is the process of idea formulation. The thought process for thinking of a thesis statement or a topic is a struggle for me. I relied on templates and researched quite a bit during College Composition 107 in order to make my work sound good. Although I maintained a 4.0 GPA in the class, I still struggled with this process. Clements (2015) stated in his podcast that “writing is a process has different phases: prevision, vision, and revision”. These are new ideas that I need to learn. Another area that I need to improve is my confidence. It has been many years since I attended school and I haven’t written much other …show more content…
By the creation of this area both humans, as well as their canine companions, can receive health benefits, such as losing weight, and it also gives both of them the socialization in the community. The owners get to know their neighbors and the canines get to know other canines. As the audience that I will be writing to will be the City Council and my fellow neighbors, I would need to make sure that my writing is effective and that the evidence that is presented is “clear, simple, and direct” (Kaplan, 2013). Some of the challenges that I may face will be the opposition in regards to the cost of upkeep, clean up of the park/arena, and rules breakage. The location of the park might be a controversial topic, whether it would be located inside the township or not. Although these challenges are of a concern to some of the residents in my community, I will make sure that I will be able to address their concerns with appropriate evidence to ease their minds. I will use the Kaplan Writing Center and Tutors as needed throughout this project to make sure that my points are being

I wrote one “source-based argumentative essay” in high school: my final essay from sophomore English. The guidelines were to write a four to eight page paper on any topic of your choice, but the thesis of the paper had to come across clearly. At the time, my personal goals were to write about something no one else would, as well as get an A in the class. As a future collegiate writer, I feel as though I have the habits and potential strengths to be successful, but my biggest weakness is that I do not know how to write a professional essay and I am a reluctant editor.…

Blog 4: how my writing process is working Writing skill is like any other skills; we need to practice it and follow the appropriate strategies to improve it. My writing skill has provided and developed compared to my writing in the freshman year at the UD. At the freshman year, my first step to write a paper was brainstorming before I read, and write without an outline. I changed my process to develop my writing strategies to provide an excellent paper. My process to write a paper goes through three main stages: (1) collect ideas and information.…

My mind feels like a 1000 piece puzzle missing a piece. I can’t simply find the right words to say to start this paper. It is always like this when freewriting; the idea of freewriting in and of itself frightens me. Never able to put the words in my head onto paper in a way that it can be read eloquently by others. My hands start to cramp automatically at the idea of freewriting.…

As you requested, I am writing to share my past writing experiences which include what kinds of writing I have done in school, the feedback that I seek on my work before I turn in assignments, the memories that I have of writing, voluntary writing I have done, and much more. Past Experiences with Writing Previous to this course I have taken several mandatory English, Writing, and Literature courses in which I have gained experience that now impact the way I write. In high school, I took my basic English & Writing courses, along with an Advanced Placement English IV course, in which the teacher persuaded me to join the University Interscholastic League (UIL) and compete in the Ready Writing Competition, in which I won first place in the…

I have always believed that teachers shape the people we become. They influence us just as much as our family. I have been fortunate enough to meet four extraordinary teachers along my educational path. They taught me not only how to improve my writing, but life lessons that made me the thinker and writer I am today. Mrs. Ceci was the first teacher who brought me out of my shell.…

Writing has been my talent since grade school; I couldn’t sing, or dance but I could write, or so I thought. Then, I entered high school and realized that writing required a lot more than it did in middle school. The brisk pace and advanced comprehension skills required for my English three AP course caused my grades to suffer. I have struggled with college level essay writing tremendously, but through hard-work I have been able to write with more ease and finesse than ever before.…

To explain who I am as a writer I think we would need to step back and look at who I was as a reader. From a young age, I was horrible at reading. I would put in special programs that would have me read books to younger grade children to make it seem like I knew how to read. Well, at least I thought I knew how to read. When it came down to it I was three reading levels below my class.…

I have never really been a strong writer. I feel like my writing always gets the point across but if the subject is not something that I know a lot about or am passionate about, then the organization is bad and the content is a lot of fluff and nothing else. My writing is strong in the amount of information I put into it, but lacks nice vocabulary and transition words or phrases. My writing can be very informative like in a research paper, report, or essay. When I know the information I can put it in a paper in a way that the reader can understand it easily.…

To be completely honest I have mixed feelings about writing and I don’t really have any memorable experiences that made me feel this way, it is just the experiences that I have had with the subject while trying to apply it. I struggle with what to write down mostly and creativity in general and I don’t really excel at any part of it. If I were to say I “excel” at anything it would be revising my work and adding to it. At the end of the semester I hope that I have relearned some key writing elements that lack of practice has caused me to lose.…

Sometimes when I write, I just write down what I am think of in that moment and I don’t know how to make the sentences flow together and sound clear. To address this challenge in future writing projects, I’m going to free-write on a separate paper. Then, after using the free-writing method, I will connect the dots by writing linking the different ideas, and then I will put the sentences in a logical order to maintain the sentence…

At the beginning of this English course, I was so nervous and scared that I would fail. I do not think I have ever been a good writer. It has always terrified me because I have difficulty putting my thoughts down on paper. This course has proven to be highly inspiring to me as well as frightening. It has really taught me more about the understanding of the writing process and structure, in which helped me to not focus so much on the actual writing parts.…

Having self- confidence in writing is essential and it never crossed my mind that I would found myself struggling with writing throughout the semester. While I started the class feeling confident, but was quickly humbled to the point I lost a bit of my confidence along the way. I like the peer reviews as it provided a chance to look at other students work and gain encouragement or provide insight on what was required. I think the way the class is structured is just right and the essays used for each assignment were on point and justified the notion that, not everyone will enjoy, or be touched by an essay, nor does it have to capture every audience.…
