Reflective Essay: My Process Of Writing

I will begin by sharing my writing process. Generally, I will always write while sitting at my computer, in my office. There will be five or more English Springer Spaniels competing for my attention at times. When this becomes overwhelming I will relocate to the living room, and change over to using my laptop. My thumbs beating on the mouse control cause havoc at times, which is why this is not my favorite place to write. The time of day varies, but morning is my best time to write, as long as I am not too busy. Evening writing is a struggle, since I am usually too tired to be creative late in the day. Although I love music, it is best if the room is silent while I write. When trying to have music playing in the background my tendency is to become engrossed with the lyrics, and with nobody around, I boldly begin singing along. Nevertheless, being a sports fan, there are times I will watch a sporting event while writing. Most of my life is extremely disciplined, but writing when I do not feel like it often results in me not writing. On my hard drive there are dozens of unfinished stories, which would at least have their first draft complete if I was more disciplined. This seems to connect directly to the issue of what gets me started writing. One of my strengths/weaknesses is that I perform well when there is a deadline. I can plan out how much time needs to be spent on a task, budget the time, and finish before the deadline. However, self imposed deadlines are a joke. If I know that a story has to be complete, in order to submit it for publication, by a specific date, I will be very diligent. That is what gets me started writing. At the same time, if that deadline does not exist, then a starting time will also fail to
