I have done my fall internship at the same school but during the day. I feel that there is a lot I can do to support the students both academically and emotionally. During the first meeting with the counselor she expressed that being bilingual and bi-cultural will help. I know that there are not many opportunities to talk or have sessions with students, since they don’t have elective classes where I can see them, but I will try my best to be flexible with their schedules. I found out that they have a student government association, so I will try to be involved in their activities,…

It was difficult coming here for the first time. “The magic happens when you step outside your comfort zone.” This proverb sums up everything I went through when I recently attended the Air Force Academy’s Summer Seminar in July. While there, I was pushed well beyond my limits. We, the attendees, did strenuous physical training sessions at roughly a mile above sea level, woke up before the sun rose, attended sample classes, and studied tons of military knowledge while learning about the Air Force Academy and the admission process. It was truly a challenge being there, and I loved every minute of it!…

I didn’t know it then, but that cozy little patch of land in the middle of nowhere would become the biggest influence in my life. In the beginning of the semester, I would admit I was nervous to start my internship with the Divisional Clerks office. Before these past few months, I had only set-foot in a courthouse once or twice in my life for past tickets. Ever since I was eight years old, I have always wanted to be a lawyer. Growing up I enjoyed watching the television show; Law and Order Special Victims Unit, with my grandfather every day after school. When we would sit and watch the show together, my grandfather would tell me all the time “You would make a great lawyer Joe.”…

My project began as a way for me to give back to the community in a way in which I could use my strengths to inspire and teach. Some of the reasons why I began my journey here at J. K.
