Reflective Essay: My First AP Class

On the first day of school, I remember walking into class and seeing all of the new people in my class. I also remember meeting all of my new teachers. I had no idea how much that I would learn, and I had no idea how much I would struggle to learn the new material. One particular class that I feel that I have learned a lot in is WHAP. WHAP stands for world history AP. Despite what many people think, WHAP is not just a class about memorizing as many facts about the world as you can. It is actually about trying to understand human nature and why things happened the way that they did in history. I think that the main reason that I struggled more in history than in any other class was that it is my first AP class. I have always been told that AP classes were the hardest, and I now see why many people think that. There were many instances in which I struggled in that class. It is difficult to try and see the deeper meaning behind an author’s work especially since it feels like they try their best to hide it from the reader. As someone who does try to interpret things past what is actually happening, it is hard to try and train my mind to find out what is going on in the book and with the characters in the book. It is very confusing at times. For instance, I got the worst score that I have gotten on a test in probably my entire life at the beginning of the year, and I still have no idea why. I feel as though the grading in the class being subjective rather than objective makes it harder for me since I have to change the way that I write every single year. All of these issues aside, I think that I have improved in the class a decent amount, but more work can be done to become even better in the
