I was feeling discouraged as well as confused on what I wanted to do involving dance in general. The support from my directors and teammates could not have put a bigger smile on my face. All of the claps, hugs, and high-fives meant so much to me. .I was filled with pure happiness, but had so much uncertainty on whether I wanted to stay committed or remove myself from this group. I hand delivered flyers to each of the three elementary schools in the area, designed t-shirts, and choreographed as well as taught a routine to the participating children to perform at the halftime of a Marvin Ridge Varsity Basketball game. Although it will be difficult to say goodbye to dancing for the Marvin Ridge Varsity Dance Team, I am excited to audition for a collegiate dance team. I plan to audition for the East Carolina University Dance Team in hopes to continue my passion for dance…

With the world so serious and bombarded with constant issues, there are some things that are swept aside for many people. One of these ‘insignificant’ issues would be of the concern of dancing. In “Dance Dance Revolution” by Barbara Ehnrenreich, she describes the very background and core controversies surrounding the legalities and restrictions surrounding dance. Ehnrenreich To make her idea that dance is a persistent conflict that requires a call for action clear, she uses the contrasting times throughout history, using examples to relate to modern times, and the appellate of human empathy.…

“When your music begins, you will be in competition mode.” I took a deep breath, it was showtime. I was introduced to the world of competitive dance in August of 2011 and ever since, dance has been the outlet for all of my emotions. I started off as a shy little girl who hid in the corner, barely extending her limbs as I attempted to mock those in front of me. As time elapsed, I persevered through challenging ten hour practices and the taunting of my peers.…

As stated before in our first lecture, dance is a living and fleeting art form. I believe that dance is a living art form because it is a three-dimensional picture to art. What I mean by this is that, art is normally seen on walls or as sculptures, but dance is an amazing opportunity to view art while in movement. If you are anything like me, when I look at a painting of two people or many, I always wonder what it would be like to see them actually dancing, singing, or even laughing. By watching dance, it is my living art form.…

During my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I was a dancer at a local studio and at Arts and Communications Magnet Academy (ACMA). I had a fun time dancing, I met a lot of great friends and I was able to express myself through art. But, dancing and attending ACMA was also something I regret doing. I met someone who hurt me in ways I didn’t expect and put me through situations I never thought I would be in. I definitely wish that what this person did had not ever happened, but I can find the silver lining and be thankful for some of the ways I was forced to grow during and after those experiences.…

The formation of dance has lived on this world for many generations as we continue to pass through history. When I went to the wonderful performance at Pierce College I experienced a whole new perspective on dancing. The concert had many types of students performing mixed dance projects of all types like solos and duets. There was an average size of one to eight dancers per project which made it the ideal size for the concert. I really enjoyed the creativity and effort put into this performance.…
