This is important because it helps you to understand the text and why it was written as well as how strong it is. “Reading like a writer can help you understand how the process of writing is a series of making choices, and in doing so, can help you recognize important decisions you might face and techniques you might want to use when working on your own writing (Bunn 75).” The strength of the text you are reading can help you improve your writing thoroughly. The barrier language that I have between Hmong and English is what makes my writing difficult to understand from the start of the school year, not only that, but also just me trying to throughly write an explanation of what I have thought of in mind. Sometimes it doesn’t come out on the paper as I have, have in my thoughts. Which in return create flaws in my level one, two, or three writing paper that affect my writing skills. The flaws that I have slightly improve on my writing: create a clear and stronger thesis statement, subject- verb agreement, and transitioning. Constructing a firm claim and allowing the reader to be able to identify which position I’ve take through my writing by creating a rough draft of what I am going to say in…

Contrary to my reading, my writing has undergone some notable improvements. Improvement in my writing did not manifest itself in the way I expected it to at the beginning of this year. Over the course of this year, my grammar, sentence structure variation, elimination of passive voice and ‘to be’ verbs, and overall writing quality have all improved. I even managed to write a decent poem and attempt to copy the vignette style of Cisneros. But all that made an inconsequential difference compared to enhancement generated from using the ICE method.…

This week’s work was focused on two themes that I feel guided my learning to becoming a more effective teacher of writing. These themes included developing as a writer through writing invitations and teaching students how to write effective sentences through sentence combining instruction. Living “The Writing Life” In completing this week’s writing invitations, I really challenged myself to try out different genres of writing in response to the prompt. I started off the first writing invitation as more of a reflective journal of sorts.…

Throughout this semester of English 101, writing has become more of a skill than a struggle. Writing was a challenge that I dreaded when I chose to be in the course, nonetheless with time, I learned from my mistakes and was able to improve. This course made me very doubtful on whether I could be capable of even writing a paper that would provide me with a decent grade, but at the same time made me push myself in my writing technique. In the end, I can reflect that I learned from my mistakes and wrote papers that took time and dedication to accomplish. I learned from this class to be confident in my writing and make all the mistakes to receive the grade I want in the end.…

I plan on working on my punctuation. The use of healthy punctuation will help the reader to be able to comprehend my writings with ease rather than struggling to understand what I am trying to say. In The Little, Brown Compact Handbook, on pages 279-316 goes into an additional amount of depth and explanation as to how to use correct punctuation and how to use them properly. A writing experience that has stood out the most for me was when I was a sophomore in High School. There was a girl in my class who I wasn't so fond of who one day decided to announce to everyone that she had begun to write her own stories. She showed everyone pieces of her writings expecting to get nothing but compliments and be to deemed the class writer, but when she finally showed me her work I cringed at how deplorable it was. The stories had no clear perspective of whether it was written in first person or third person view, some of the simplest of words were spelled wrong, and many words were used in the wrong context. The class didn't seem to care for her stories so they just gave standard responses with no words for…
