Going from eighth grade to ninth is a frightening idea to any uprising freshman. For me, I was more than pleased to embark on this new journey called high school. What I wasn't prepared for was the completely different grading scale, joining extra curricula, and becoming accustomed to this new found freedom. I made a wise decision to focus only on my grades instead of trying to join clubs, organizations, and sports. The irony in this is that all our advisers and assistant principles were telling me the exact opposite. I knew they were trying to help incoming freshman be more accustomed to their new home but I found establishing a strong GPA more important. As a result, I finished my freshman year with a 3.8 GPA.
