Reflective Essay: Georgia Southern

Decent Essays
I actually did not have a problem composing this essay. All my thoughts came to me clearly because there’s so many reasons why I choice Georgia Southern. The most challenging aspect of writing this essay was probably how to organize all my thoughts. At first all my thoughts were disorganized and reading my first draft made me fell is if I was just stating facts and not explaining them. After class on Wednesday when we went over the see-it lesson my paper was dramatically changed. My paper had more length and, all my thoughts had a reason behind it; which is what a reader is looking for.

Rocklyn Turano Professor Crowe Composition 1 22 October 2015 The Confederate flag A proud relic among the southern states, the confederate battle flag has been handed down from generation to generation from its once heroic and brave ancestors that fought so valiantly for their confederate colors. The confederate colors should not be limited by the government in any way, but to no avail the government is attempting to take our rights to these historic colors away. To take this right away is a strict violation of the first amendment; “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” Many…

Although I do not have any bonds or relationships with South Carolina, I think my life experiences and future professional interests would be of benefit to the state of South Carolina. As a child, I grew up in a rural area on a farm that was quite distant from nearby healthcare facilities. I find it important to ensure that residents in rural areas receive high-quality healthcare. Wherever I end up practicing as a physician, I plan on contributing as much as possible to rural areas. Given the fact that the majority of South Carolina counties are considered “rural” or “very rural”, I think this would be of great benefit to the state.…

Everyone hates English class is what I thought before taking English 102. However, that may have been the case before I entered Dr. Byrd’s domain, but after finishing the class I have come to the realization that English class can be greatly resourceful. English 102 this year has had its ups and downs, and I must admit the ups outweigh the downs. Meaning, this year, I have learned that I am not a student who wants to read or write, but through reading and writing my mind and skill sets concerning English have grown. During English 102 this year, reading and writing in class helped me expand my writing skills, improved my will to comprehend, and most importantly helped expand my knowledge.…

Even though my contributions to the intellectual life of the class might have not been the best I believe that they were helpful not only to me but to some of my peers. Specifically in the peer reviews, I felt that those were crucial to the class, because every student had the opportunity to read and analyze another’s paper. By giving helpful criticism to someone else 's paper we were all receiving a new view into the type of essay we needed to be writing, therefore giving our own essays a new point of view to revise with. Consequently, peer reviews helped me learn to communicate better because I really wanted to give constructive criticism that my peers would find helpful towards improving their essays, so that I could also receive some in exchange. For example in the last essay I wrote one of the critics that I had was that one of my paragraphs was all wrong and that it really just did not mean much.…

This English class has been very helpful in my efforts to improve my writing abilities, but has also been very challenging due to there being a different median for every essay. It’s been a heavy work load especially this semester since I decided to enroll in five classes, but in the end it has been very beneficial indeed. I can’t say that writing essays has been one of my strong points but I believe that this course has helped me improve tremendously and it has also made me feel a lot more comfortable with my writing. While in high school I would usually write all of my essays a day before the due date a habit of mine that was very difficult to overcome, but now I have learned from my mistakes.…
