“I have to go here, dad. It was a strange feeling knowing that I would no longer be Lakeland High School’s most spirited student, but there was excitement in knowing that I would soon show my pride for Colorado Mesa. Images of my blue and white spirit wear quickly changed to be maroon and gold. I was eager to represent my new home away from home. However, college spirit is on a much bigger scale than high school spirit. What could I do in college to show support of my university while encouraging others to do the same?

As I step into the Ambassador role, I will bring my team-leader mentality and strong work ethic acquired from three years of experience as the captain of both the girls Varsity Boardercross (snowboarding) team and the girls Varsity Lacrosse team. My hard working nature helped me receive my Varsity letters for Boardercross and Lacrosse as a high school freshman, quickly accelerating to leadership positions as a sophomore. I believe my most powerful leadership attribute shines through situational leadership within a group or team. The ability to quickly assess a situation and then lead one’s peers accordingly is not an easily taught skill. (Insert? A time when I showed powerful leadership and involved all members of the group Ex. Book talk in AP lang) I pride myself in getting all members of a group involved when working towards a common goal, and maintaining focus as a group with a clearly defined goal and path

Being a TCU horned frog feels right for many reasons. TCU affords me the opportunity to move away from my hometown, Waco, it allows me to select from any of the majors I've considered; it provides me all of the resources I need to learn and excel; and it means I get to cheer on one of the best football teams in the nation, all while being in a faith-growing environment. I found, during my campus tour, the aspect I was most impressed by was the TCU spirit. Every student my tour group encountered wore a prideful smile, excitedly greeting their peers and every now and then one would yell a “Go frogs!”.…

On the day of the event, I became hesitant in my choice of attending the lecture. I knew what the lecture was scheduled to be about, but I questioned if I would be welcomed to participate, even with it being open to the public. The atmosphere on campus inspired me. Every couple of feet, the NC State emblem is built into the sidewalk with white bricks on a maroon background. Seeing the different ethnicities of students as I walked to the Talley Student Union was different from what I had become accustomed to with working on the campus of a historically black college/university.…

I enjoyed learning about supervision. It was interesting, and I needed to know about supervision. I will be graduating in May of 2017, and because of the writing assignment I have already started looking for an LPC-S. I am thinking about Sally the LPC-S I interviewed and another lady whom I met from a person at my intern site. Sally charges $70 per session, and the other lady only charges $20. I know it not all about the fees, but I do have to pay back student loans.…

Never was it in my plan to fall this far behind in my academic plan for graduating college. In fall of 2013 I started going to UIC to pursue my major, in the summer of 2014 I was raped by someone that I was close to and at the time I was not comfortable sharing it with anyone. After holding in my pain for so long I started to fall behind in my classes and nothing was getting better, no matter how hard I studied. I eventually told my parents because I knew I wasn’t going to be able to mae the rest of the school year if I couldn’t make it through one semester with the easy classes I was taking. I was in and out of the hospital and having many doctors appointments because even though I knew what was wrong with me I couldn’t tell anyone.…

While searching for something to do this summer I wanted to find something that I could gain some very useful experiences from, so when I received an email informing me about a fellowship in the south working to improve schools I was ecstatic. Participating in this fellowship would mean I am taking the leadership pathway and that is the pathway I was looking to be a part of because I think it is probably the best pathway to gain experience that is easily transferable into the work place. The work you do in an internship is very much meant to be work that gives you direct experience in the work environment, rather than other pathways which may give you new things to think about and consider but may not give you necessary skills in a field. I am studying Psychology and that opens a lot of different career options after graduation and one the options I am considering is teaching. This is a great way to gain experience in education.…
